Certified wood sourcing, modular construction, and tested quality

Over 99% of our wood-based materials come from verifiably certified forestry (FSC® / PEFC). The particleboard processed in 2025 contained an average of 71% recycled wood. Our product design, featuring a modular construction with detachable joints, allows for the targeted replacement of individual components as well as material separation at the end of the product’s useful life. nolte Küchen offers a 5-year product warranty on furniture (excluding handles) as well as a long-term supply of replacement parts, which supports the repairability of our products. For nolte Küchen, product safety and verified design standards are our top priorities. Independent testing institutes regularly audit our furniture for stability and indoor air quality and certify our quality management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001:2015. We transparently present our key performance indicators regarding the origin of our primary materials, certified wood-based materials, and the recycled content of purchased materials in our comprehensive sustainability report, which complies with European reporting standards (ESRS).

Certified quality.

nolte Küchen regularly has the mechanical safety and stability of its cabinet constructions certified by the Gütegemeinschaft Möbel e. V. in accordance with the RAL-GZ 430 (“Das Goldene M”) testing standards.

Our furniture designs undergo internal quality assurance based on our certified ISO 9001:2015 management system. They are certified for long-term daily use in accordance with the quality and stress tests of RAL-GZ 430 (German Furniture Quality Association).

The GS Seal—Tested Safety—is awarded by TÜV Rheinland based on the ProdSG (Product Safety Act). Certain furniture lines undergo regular physical safety and quality tests.

Certified interior hygiene and low-emission materials.

To ensure a comfortable living environment, we rely on certified material quality and low-emission raw materials for our kitchen furniture. The wood-based materials we use meet strict quality requirements; for example, the formaldehyde emissions from our particleboard are well below the legal limits.

As proof of certified health and safety in the home, our entire collection of cabinet furniture has been awarded the highest RAL emissions class, Class A, by the German Furniture Quality Association (Deutsche Gütegemeinschaft Möbel e.V.). Independent audits and additional testing in accordance with the criteria of the GS seal ensure compliance with our quality standards.

Local Manufacturing and Certified Manufacturing Standards

We rely on a high degree of in-house production—from design and the manufacturing of countertops and kitchen cabinets through assembly to quality inspection. 100% of our production takes place in Germany at our manufacturing sites in Löhne and Melle.

Compliance with these standards is attested by the RAL quality mark “Furniture Made in Germany” (RAL-RG 0191).

Our regional procurement structure strengthens our locations and shortens transport distances: In 2025, we sourced 86% of our particleboard from suppliers in Germany. Approximately 59% of our total procurement volume came from suppliers located within a 100-kilometer radius.

Circular Economy-Oriented Material and Design Standards at nolte Küchen

To support the circular economy, we rely on secondary raw materials for key material components. In addition, we regularly conduct off-cut analyses at our main facilities. Our particleboard comes from various suppliers who offer recycled wood content ranging from 30% to 100%. In 2025, the average recycled content of the particleboard we processed was 71%, and selected plastic components—such as our waste collection systems—contained 30% recycled material. Compared to the previous year, scrap at the main facility (which accounts for 81% of particleboard and MDF cutting operations) rose slightly in 2025 to 9.8% (2024: 9.6%).

Our kitchen cabinets have a modular design and are assembled using detachable connections. This not only allows for the targeted replacement of individual components to extend the service life but also facilitates disassembly at the end of the product life cycle for the separate sorting of wood, metal, and plastics.

A circular economy refers to an economic system in which raw materials and products are used, repaired, and recycled for as long as possible in order to prevent waste and conserve primary resources.

Product protection tailored to specific needs and recyclable packaging solutions.

We receive many of our raw materials, semi-finished, and finished products—such as hardware systems—in reusable packaging, which we then return to our suppliers. In line with the principles of a circular economy, this packaging is reused to package new goods.

To protect our kitchen furniture during transport, we rely on a targeted combination of corrugated cardboard corner protectors and optimized thickness of the packaging films used to reduce the volume of plastic.

100% of our shipping and protective packaging is collected by certified waste management companies and fed into existing recycling loops.

An Overview of Our Standards for Sourcing Wood-Based Materials

Wood-based materials form the backbone of our kitchen furniture and accounted for 55% of our total purchasing volume in 2025. When selecting our wood-based materials, we prioritize traceable origins and strict environmental and social standards throughout our supply chain:

Certified wood-based materials: Over 99% of the wood-based materials we process come from verifiably certified, sustainably managed forests in accordance with the international FSC® and PEFC standards.

Verified Supply Chain (Chain of Custody): Our wood and forest product supply chain is certified by the SGS Institut Fresenius. In 2025, we sourced 86% of our particleboard from suppliers in Germany with short, traceable transport routes.

High Recycled Content: To conserve natural wood resources, the particleboard used in our kitchens contains an average of 71% recycled wood.

Compliance with Strict Limits: All wood-based materials meet EU requirements regarding formaldehyde emissions and the TSCA criteria (Toxic Substances Control Act, a U.S. federal law governing the regulation of hazardous substances).
