Ingredients for 6-8 pieces:
2 rolls puff pastry from the refrigerated section, apple sauce, cinnamon, 1 egg, icing sugar for dusting, 6-8 cinnamon stars, wooden skewers
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 200 degrees top and bottom heat and line a baking tray with baking paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry, spread with applesauce and sprinkle with cinnamon.
- Cover the applesauce layer with the second puff pastry.
- Then cut the dough into approx. 2 cm wide strips with a knife. Now skewer each strip onto a wooden skewer in a wavy shape, so that the dough strip becomes narrower from bottom to top and resembles a Christmas tree.
- Place the Christmas tree skewers on the baking tray and brush them with the beaten egg. Then bake in the oven for approx. 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
Then let the Christmas trees cool thoroughly and dust with powdered sugar. Optionally, you can place a cinnamon star on the top.
